Red Eye Cafe - Montclair, NJ
This place is the perfect little hangout spot for those coffee lovers. The cafe is hip and it has a really chill atmosphere. There are games and books available for use. Weekly, they feature unique art pieces from various artists, which are also on sale. We love to go to this place to sit and catch up on girl talk. We've tried several dishes and they're all so good. Our favorite is the Frittata sandwich, that is to die for. The spiced chai tea latte complements any breakfast item and it is the best chai we've ever had. If you're in the Montclair area and are looking for a quick bite...check out Red Eye!
Piazza Margherita - Lyndhurst, NJ
If you love Italian food Piazza Margherita is the place to go, not to mention it's BYOB. The ambience is inviting with all the lovely lighting and the beautiful paintings of Italy. The food is perfecto! Starting with the appetizers like mozzarella corrozza to baked clams. For entrees the possibilities are endless, they have any pasta dish you can think of - chicken, veal, pork chops, rib-eye steak and sea food. Every Saturday night from 7-10 p.m. there is a live band. Be sure to check it out because who doesn't love Italian food.
Pequenas - Brooklyn, NY
To all my mexican food lovers, Pequenas is BOMB.com Yes it is a hole in the wall restaurant but the food and service is outstanding. We would suggest going during happy hour as margaritas are 2 for 1 price. Guac and sweet plantains with sour cream and queso fresco are amaze balls!!!!!!! Hippest mexican spot in Brooklyn and everything is wallet friendly. Perfect for brunch, lunch and dinner. Some of our favorite dishes are the enchiladas and quesadillas. Heads up, it is cash only.
Chatni - Montclair, NJ
We've only been here once and we can tell you right off the bat, the food is out of this world. They did not disappoint, the service was amazing. We came at the right time because there was a lunch special, which consisted of one meat or seafood and one vegetarian dish for the price of like $10.95! Unexpectedly, this special came with appetizer, salad and endless naan. Be sure to try the chicken tikka masala, shrimp curry and chana masala. For those who like spicy, the vindaloos are definitely right up you're alley. Note, take precaution when specifying the spicy level because the medium spice was pretty spicy than we were expecting. If you've never tried Indian food, this is a great starter place. Trust us, we've been to multiple Indian restaurants in the area.
Las Olas - Hoboken, NJ
This is no ordinary sushi joint, this is the real deal. They have the ultimate lunch special; three sushi rolls for about $12.95. Tell me that's not cray?! They have quality fresh fish, and we know from experience that this is nothing compared to what they sell on campus or at your local Japanese restaurant. There is outside seating available so it is ideal to come during lunch or maybe dinner in the warm weather months. Hoboken is well known for their vast variety of restaurants and this is one that is worth your visit.
